Written by Bester KayayeIn a heartfelt gesture aimed at addressing transportation challenges within the Zomba Church of Central African Presbyterian (CCAP), Akatswiri Holdings Limited, led by Chairman Hilton Banda, has generously donated a vehicle.
Today, the Moderator for Blantyre Synod, Rev. Dr. Humphreys Zgambo, graciously accepted the donation on behalf of the church, expressing deep appreciation for the benevolent act.
Rev. Dr. Zgambo commended the Banda family for their generosity, emphasizing the significance of such contributions in supporting the church's endeavors. "We are immensely grateful for their kindness as our churches often face numerous resource gaps. A vehicle is a valuable asset that will greatly benefit our community," remarked Rev. Dr. Zgambo.
This act of philanthropy follows a series of initiatives by the Banda family, owners of Akatswiri Minerals under Akatswiri Holdings Limited, including the provision of smartphones to the School Days movie actors, with commitments to support their education and business ventures, along with assistance to the production team.
In an exclusive interview with Corporate Link Africa, Mr. Hilton Banda shared the family's motivation behind the donation, citing their longstanding connection with the church dating back to their days at Chancellor College. "Having been part of the Zomba community since 2006, we recognized the absence of a vehicle for the church despite its significant historical and spiritual contributions," explained Banda.
The family emphasized the importance of supporting churches, underscoring the belief that such acts of generosity enrich the spiritual fabric of communities. "Our commitment to maintaining the vehicle for the next six years, including employing a driver from the church, reflects our dedication to supporting the church's mission," Banda added.
To ensure accountability and transparency, a tracking system has been installed in the vehicle, enabling church elders to monitor its movements effectively.
In a separate development, Zomba CCAP welcomed Rev. Asadi Phiri as their new moderator during the ceremony.
Akatswiri Mineral Resources, a reputable firm specializing in contracting and consulting services within the mineral exploration, geotechnical, and environmental sectors, continues to undertake various projects across Malawi, demonstrating a commitment to sustainable development.
