INVITATION TO EXPRESS INTEREST CONDUCT COMPETITION AND CONSUMER PROTECTION ASSESSMENT IN THE CEMENT SECTOR OF MALAWI-FIRM SELECTION

The Competition and Fair-Trading Commission has allocated funds in its 2022/2023 Financial Budget and intends to apply part of the proceeds of these funds towards the cost of procurement of consultancy services for Competition and Consumer Protection in the Cement Sector of Malawi. The Commission now invites suitably qualified bidders to submit sealed expressions of interest for Competition and Consumer Protection Assessment in the Cement Sector of Malawi.
In pursuance of its mandate, the Commission undertakes studies, among other functions. Since its establishment, the Commission has made interventions into various sectors of the economy including the cement industry. Recognizing the importance of the cement sector and in face of the information the Commission has come across concerning the sector, it has been deemed appropriate to conduct an in-depth study so as to establish the levels of competition, consumer protection and other dynamics in the sector. Therefore, the Commission intends to engage the services of a consultant to undertake the study.
CFTC is looking for consultant(s) with a strong track record in the field of Economics, Statistics, Research and/or Business Management, and a minimum academic qualification of a postgraduate degree. Although a PhD will be preferred, consultants with Master’s Degree and reasonable experience will stand an equal chance. Knowledge of Competition Law and/or Competition Policy will be an added advantage. Expressions of interest will be evaluated in accordance with the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Act of 2017 and Public Procurement Regulations 2020. The Expression of Interest should include the following:
1. Business Registration Certificate
2. Professional Certificates
3. PPDA Certificate
4. Evidence of previous similar assignments
5. Tax Payer Identification Number and Tax Clearance
6. Confirmation that you are not under investigation by Anti-Corruption Bureau. Expressions of interest must be delivered to the address below at or before 10:00 Hours on 22ND MARCH 2024. Late submissions shall be rejected.
