International Media Reports: Agilitee Africa Enters Malawi Market in Exclusive Partnership with Innobuild Motors
Agilitee Africa, a leading South African electric vehicle (EV) company, has officially entered the Malawi market through an exclusive partnership with Innobuild Motors, as reported by international media. The collaboration aims to revolutionize the transportation sector in Malawi with a significant investment in the construction of a manufacturing and assembly plant for Agilitee EVs.
CEO and Co-Founder of Agilitee Africa, Dr. Mandhla Lamba, shared the exciting news on LinkedIn, stating, "After nearly three years of preparation, we are thrilled to announce our entry into the Malawian market. The exclusive partnership signed on January 19, 2024, will see our electric vehicles hitting the roads within the next 60 days, thanks to our esteemed partners at Innobuild."
The LinkedIn post received widespread appreciation from the Malawian community, highlighting the strategic importance of this move. Operations Director of Innobuild Motors, Jonathan Billy Chiwotha, expressed enthusiasm, stating, "This groundbreaking agreement with Agilitee Africa will transform the transport sector in Malawi."
In an exclusive interview with Elevation News, Fredrick Muteti, Head of Partnerships at Agilitee Africa, emphasized the significance of the announcement. "Today’s development is a major milestone for Agilitee as we seek to simplify and change the way Africans travel, promoting environmental sustainability and growth," he said.
The collaboration has led to the establishment of Agilitee Private Limited MW, with plans for a manufacturing and assembly plant for Agilitee EVs in Malawi. Agilitee's ambitious plan includes the rollout of 50,000 electric scooters across Africa by the end of 2024, with Malawi playing a pivotal role in this initiative.
The introduction of semi-assembled vehicles to Malawi will create job opportunities for locals, contributing significantly to the country's economy. Agilitee aims to position itself as a major contributor to Malawi's economy, leading the way in electric vehicle manufacturing on the continent.
Tailoring their offerings to suit the local terrain, Agilitee will introduce new models in Malawi, including the Agilitee LoadMo, Agilitee Loadfast, and Agilitee Loadbug. These models boast rugged durability, excellent road clearance, a 300-400kg load capacity, and a maximum range of 200km on a fully charged battery.
Agilitee's entry into Malawi aligns with global discussions on climate change, emphasizing its commitment to reducing carbon footprint through widespread EV adoption. Currently operating in South Africa and Kenya, Agilitee plans to expand its operations to the Nigerian market in the near future.
The move aligns with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agenda, promoting self-sufficiency across the continent. Agilitee aims to contribute to a greener Malawi, showcasing environmental responsibility and participating in efforts to combat climate change.
