NYCOM takes Youth Innovation Fund to Nsanje and Thyolo
The fund will expand from the current K2 billion to K10 billion

The National Youth Council of Malawi (NYCOM) has extended disbursements under the Youth Innovation Fund to entrepreneurs in Nsanje and Thyolo, following earlier allocations in Blantyre.

The initiative, launched by President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera, is designed to empower young people to play a leading role in driving Malawi’s economic transformation in line with the country’s long-term vision, MW2063.

Among the latest beneficiaries are Gologoliyo Farms, which specializes in greenhouse technology, drip irrigation, and agro-processing, and Solola Pig Farming, which is advancing modern livestock production and processing systems.

Both enterprises embody MW2063’s emphasis on industrialization through agriculture.

Speaking during a cheque presentation ceremony in Nsanje, the district’s Director of Health and Social Services, Dr. Gilbert Chapweteka, urged more young innovators to take advantage of the opportunity.

In Thyolo, District Commissioner Hardison Kuphanga described the fund as a timely intervention for rural youth and called on NYCOM to broaden its coverage.

NYCOM’s Director of Finance and Administration, Ernest Mangani Senior, said the fund represents a direct government investment in youth-led enterprises and stressed the need for responsible use of resources.

He highlighted the fund’s potential to reduce imports and safeguard foreign exchange.

Mangani also conveyed a message from Finance Minister Hon. Simplex Chithyola Banda, who assured that the fund will expand from the current K2 billion to K10 billion, underscoring government’s confidence in youth-driven innovation.

The Youth Innovation Fund forms part of President Chakwera’s broader agenda to position young people at the heart of national development.

By supporting youth-led agribusiness ventures, the program is expected to accelerate progress toward food security, job creation, and rural industrialization — critical milestones on Malawi’s journey to achieving MW2063.
